The role of tourism in regional development
Buday-Sántha, Attila
Keywords: conditions of regional tourism, agrarian and regional development, regional transformation
Since the democratic transformation, there has been insecurity in the countryside; in many respects, in fact, it is in a very difficult situation. The fundamental reason for this is that the foundations of the countryside economy were badly shaken by the crisis in agriculture. Under such circumstances everyone seeks opportunities for new developments and the development of regional tourism is being recommended as a solution. In reality however, there is no single, all-encompassing solution. The transforming countryside will be a multifunctional place in which production and community services both play a determining role, but whose development can only be guaranteed by integral urban relations.
