Investigations determined that women are more likely to apply for courses and feel the stress of the labour market more. They expect their labour market prospects to stabilise or improve on completion of a course. A further outcome of free training is that it generates acceptance of lifelong learning and demand for this, which also demonstrates that the age of course participants is spread over a fairly wide interval (38 years). The training courses examined were confined to weekends, therefore everyone was sacrificing their free time in the pursuit of knowledge, again showing that the value of knowledge is embedded in graduates’ value systems.
