Two thirds of European employees work in the service sector, of which knowledge-based companies form the most dynamically growing third. The methodical and conscious utilisation of personal and organisational knowledge is the key factor of success in information-based competition. Organisations are employing increasing numbers of intellectual ‘white-collar’ workers, whose sphere of activity relates to a specific problem or task. As a result of the development of information technology, the role of these white-collar workers is increasing important in companies. It is they who work with data and information and who create and share knowledge on behalf of the organisation. This study presents one method of directing the process of corporate knowledge creation, maintenance and sharing. It provides a template for the business’s knowledge-actors, leaders and white-collar workers equally.
