Evaluation of Hungarian Regions from the point of view of small scale production of bio-fuels

In the past years several analyses appeared dealing with the issue of renewable energy resources in Hungary, namely which of them would suit best conditions in this country. Agricultural overproduction characteristic of previous decades, climate change and the continued and drastic rise of fossil fuels prices directed attention to bi-fuels also in this country. Furthermore such a use of bio-mass offers a complex solution to not only the above problems, but also it offers farmers the possibility to develop an optimal production structure leading to enhanced living standard. On the basis of methods described in the literature (complemented and/or modified) a complex analysis was prepared evaluating the regions of Hungary from the point of view of bio-fuels applicability. Each region was individual assessed on the basis published statistical data. The economic and technological assessment of bio-fuels production was not an objective of our study, although undoubtedly these are needed for establishing optimal market structures. This study presents a possible method of analysis assessing the regions of Hungary from a point of view based on the conditions of systems approach.
