Management practices of farmers keeping Hungarian grey cattle in Hungary

Our questionnaire-based survey found that respondents were pursuing their activities as a primary activity, but they all kept other livestock as well (usually also native species). Several respondents had realized the potential for rural tourism, arising from the spectacular appearance of the variety. They were not engaged in home food processing due to the relevant legislation, even though introducing the related flavours could comprise an ideal component of tourism. Producers are currently having issues selling their products. Even products which are sold are sold only on the domestic market, even though this product could be taken to foreign markets, making use of Hungary’s potential comparative advantages.
