Integrated information systems in agricultural enterprises

Very few of the almost three hundred examined agricultural enterprises (between 1% and 8% of the respondents in different sectors) are familiar with integrated information systems. The surveyed enterprises do not use internal information integrating systems that would help them to closely follow the operations of the enterprise and its internal processes. The reason for this on the one hand is that the purchase of such systems – due to the financial situation – presents a very heavy burden for agricultural enterprises. This may partially be the reason why the interviewed producers are not aware of the possibilities offered by such systems, which further hinders the chances of introducing these systems and utilizing their advantages.
Although there are certain visible advances in agricultural enterprises using different IT applications, spatial informatics and remote sensing services, and wireless technology, these represent so called isolated solutions and do not support the acceptance of integrated systems which could present possibilities for modelling sectoral processes.
