The necessity and opportunities of structural change in Hungarian agriculture

Csepregi, István

Keywords: animal husbandry, corn production, alternative energy production, agrarian-environmental management, extensive-intensive reproduction

The conscious reshaping of the agricultural structure is exceptionally urgent, within which the growth of animal husbandry would be desirable, but its restrictive conditions (the lack of capital and current assets, its time-consuming nature, etc.), as well as the reduced production of corn intended for consumption, cannot result in greater or faster change. The solutions presenting themselves include contributing to the supply of unmet energy requirements, agrarian-environmental management, the properly selected extensive-intensive production-development direction and the expansion of irrigation.
