Based on domestic agricultural policy initiatives to date, on agro-ecological potential, the agricultural and regional situation, and on critical evaluation of EU regulations, it can be concluded that it would be expedient to develop Hungary’s agricultural strategy focussing on three problem areas. (1) On sales and production targets, conditions and tasks. (2) On the elimination of domestic human, organisational and infrastructural obstacles that may restrict the present and the future. (3) On the latest challenges. The efforts of domestic agricultural policy have placed the emphasis on the issues in point (1), while restrictive conditions and new challenges have not received the necessary attention, which has in itself restricted the strategy’s effectiveness, conformity to EU regulations and the receipt of grants
