The logistical services offered by forwarding companies to agricultural and food industry businesses

A significant number of forwarding companies offer logistical support to their clients. As a result, a portion of the fixed costs of the production companies employing them can be converted to variable costs. They entrust the carriage, location change, packing and storage, etc. of raw materials and finished products to specialist firms, thereby making cost savings on transport, fixed assets, wages organisation etc. A study conducted among members of Hungary’s largest association of forwarding companies highlighted the characteristics of the logistical services offered to agricultural and food industry businesses. In the interests of more reliable planning, increased cost efficiency and the sharing of liability and risk, stronger relationships are needed between agricultural businesses and the logistical service providers.
