There is a good probability of significant, though slow growth in organic production in Europe. In Hungary the regulation of organic production conforms to international and EU regulatory standards.

Organic husbandry is rather underdeveloped in Hungary in comparison to organic plant cultivation and organic gardening; about 40% of organic farms keep livestock. This is disadvantageous, because it prevents full utilisation of organic farming’s inherent unity, the principle that plant production provides feed while dung provides fertiliser for the same farm. It is true that among Hungary’s organic farms, few of them deal with animal husbandry. According to the surveys, one in six people living in the EU prefer to buy organically certified, healthy meat products.
